Le quatre-heures

Have you already had a goûter? Usually, kids in France have their goûter at around 4 pm. For this reason, this afternoon snack is casually called le quatre-heures. According to the tradition, it is made of a slice of bread with butter and jam (une tartine) or bread with a chocolate bar. But nowadays, nuts and fruits are also very common! C’est l’heure du quatre-heures! It’s snack time!
