Être connu comme le loup blanc, literally “To be known as the white wolf”, means “to be very well known”. The history of this expression is interesting. The wolf has always been considered a very dreaded animal people were afraid of. It was seen as a threat to other animals and children. When the dark fur animal was roaming around a village, inhabitants were quickly informed. From there, it is easy to imagine that, if a white wolf (albino or with very light fur) showed itself, the information would circulate even faster due to its rarity!
