Blanc bonnet et bonnet blanc

Blanc bonnet et bonnet blanc, literally “White hat and hat white”, is a very useful expression to describe two things that are very similar. The expression dates back to the 18th century and became more common in the 20th century. The English equivalent is “six of one and half a dozen of the other”.
