Au ras des pâquerettes

Au ras des pâquerettes, literally “level with the daisies”, means “very low”. This expression appeared because the daisies are very small flowers. At the beginning, it was used in its literal sense but then it evolved to describe things that are unremarkable, mediocre or low-level.
