Un froid de canard

December 12, 2019 valeriegencLeave a comment

Un froid de canard literally means “a cold of duck”. It is only used for an extremely cold and hostile weather. It apparently comes from duck hunting, when, in winter, hunters had to keep very quiet in the cold, looking for the ducks!
